I’m one of those piece of shit people that loves video games, occasionally plays video games, but will just go find a lets play sometimes because I’m lazy.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with that, though o n o
Sometimes Let’s Plays give you an entirely new view on the games being played. Maybe you cannot pay so much attention to the environment while actually playing because you are so focused, but when you are watching a LP of it, you suddenly can see the slight nuances. The decay. The beauty. The shadows and light.
Even more, by watching a LP, you are freed of the possible stresses and concerns of “what is coming next” or “how do I do this” or “should I save here—yeah I am going to save here—what about here—oh yeah here too”
And yet another thing: LPs can be supremely amusing when you get a good LPer. It is like sharing an experience and getting a genuine, interested reaction from the other person. No matter who you like as a LPer (personally, I like Cry’s style), each person gives a different twist and creates a completely new experience.
So, all in all and to end this rant, there is absolutely no shame in watching a Let’s Play in place of playing the game.
